Steam-Turbine Drive Cooling – Getting the Most from Your Boiler
A steam-turbine can be used to drive a compressor, usually in very large (1500+ tons) applications. Steam-turbines use the existing boiler supply which, if sized for winter heating load, should provide adequate steam capacity to meet summer cooling needs and eliminates concerns about fuel supply or emissions.
Steam-turbine powered chillers offer several advantages over other steam powered (double effect) absorption chillers. Off-design point efficiency is superior due to the inherent use of variable speed operation. Also, the space required for installation is less.
